We sit down with Stefan Hemon, the man behind OMNEUM, in our first ever Meet The Artist interview to talk about the OMNEUM project, the state of Neurofunk, and his newest (and largest) release on Warlock Audio.
How did the OMNEUM project come to be?
That is a good question, I was making music under my alias "Xena" and then one night I had weird dream and someone called me that, so when I woke up I wrote it down and then on the course of the months I randomly changed my name and that is how "OMNEUM" was born!
With your unique style, where do you draw inspiration from?
Well I really draw a lot of inspiration from my life , dreams , and paranormal stuff , but also i am a really huge fan of old school techstep like; ( Stakka , Skynet , Bad Company , Pyro , Audio) (to name few) so it's a blend of ideas that make up my way of DnB!
Why Neurofunk?
I was always a big fan of alternative music , I started listening to prodigy young and stumbled upon other alt music really quickly , then I got involved into electronic music and I instantly fell in love with it! After some time neurofunk (DnB) came to me and since then I'm producing neuro!
Who is killing it right now in the Neuro scene?
Honestly , Finalfix is eating it up right now with his insane reeses and amazing arrangement! I would highly recommend to hear his work! Many more artists are killing it also right now Ekwols is killing it with his latest releases! Bright future ahead for Neurofunk!!!
This is your biggest release yet. Tell us about it!
I'm really excited about this release , it means a lot to me and marks a new journey from OMNEUM! I hope that my creative approach can inspire others with their own creation! This project was really inspired with a lot of emotions and liminal aesthetics which are bound to my dream aesthetics. I really tried to put those emotions of melancholy in this EP. It's been rough time for the whole world and this would represent my feeling on the current matter. I'm really excited for this and can't wait to share it with you guys!
What do you like to do in your time away from the studio?
Well most of the time i'm in the studio but when I'm out , I either socialize or expand my knowledge in fields of interest , i find books really dear to me so i would say learning is my favorite thing to do outside producing. I also enjoy playing MTG and board games for anyone out there that is fan of TCG and Gamenights!!!
What are the next plans for your music career?
Well, I honestly want to keep creating cause I love creating , I also want to start teaching music and other crafts and things i know , a lot to unpack in the future and I'm excited for it! Thank you once again for doing this interview with me! Remember to drink water friends!
